MEET THE CREW

Larry Barnhart - Owner

Saying bicycles are his life would be an understatement.  He's been at this store for 41+ years.  A member of the Break-Away Bicycle Club since it's creation in 1986.  He's been a USCF race official, a licensed USCF racer and custom frame builder.

He created, organized & ran the Haynes Apperson Criterium for 20 years, even winning it once himself.  Created the "Barnhart Adventure Series" of rides that took place from Logansport to Madison, IN.

He is following his second passion now by putting a homebrewing department in with his wife Sue's backalley art area and calling it backalley brewing.

Mike Shult - Manager

Mike became an employee of Kokomo Cycling & Fitness in 1999, but was a fixture at the store long before he actually started to get paid to be there.  Showing an interest in bikes while still in High School. Larry kept an eye on him for many years before finding the right time to absorb his life force and incorporate him into the collective.  I mean, hire him to share the duties of running a top quality bike shop.

Mike too has been a USCF Official, a charter member of the Break-Away Bicycle Club and a much appreciated Support (SAG) Driver for many club events, always willing to "lay down" his body (literally in the middle of the road) for the safety of the riders.  He has held several positions in the BABC including President and now Secretary.  He too has introduced many new rides to the club including ATB polo and the Tour de Schwinn indoor bike race.

Together Mike & Larry represent more than 58 years experience in the bike business.  With their combined knowledge and extensive background in every aspect of cycling, they are ready to get you up and riding.  Whether you are just beginning to discover the joys of riding or are a seasoned veteran, make sure you give these two a chance to show you what they can do.
